About Me

Hey there!  My name is Matt and this blog is a combination of my theology, my thoughts, and the things that God brings to my attention in my life happenings.  He has brought me to a point in life where I can see clearly that He has everything in His Word that we need for life and godliness (2 Pet 1:3), and my hope is that this blog is a manifestation of that.

First and foremost I am a Christian– a sinner saved from eternal hell by an almighty, gracious God through His Son Jesus Christ (and by the regeneration of the Spirit!).  I’m a recent graduate of UCLA, of the International Development Studies and Teaching English as a Second Language programs.  During that time, I was blessed to lead worship at my on-campus ministry, Grace on Campus, which is a ministry of my church, Grace Community Church.

Currently, I’m in my second year at The Master’s Seminary. This journey through seminary has been an incredible process, as I’m learning to love the Lord more deeply, handle His Word more accurately, and become a more effective minister of the Gospel. It’s been a great joy and I’m thankful to the Lord for the opportunity and for the people around me who support me and keep me accountable.

I love music.  I love music itself, people that make music, things that make music, and things that help us make music.  I love the guitar, amps, pedals, and that kind of thing.  The big thing for me in these past few years has been the electric guitar.

I love people.  It’s my firm belief that God’s given us other people to interact with and love so that He is brought utmost glory through these interactions and relationships.  I’m thankful for that!

I’m praying for the Lord’s direction in terms of my future.  I would love to eventually help lead a music ministry in a local church, be involved in lots of discipleship, and know the Word well enough to be comfortable counseling and discipling people in that church.  We’ll see where the Lord leads!

Lastly, pretty randomly: I love McChickens, a good burrito, Uganda (and Africa in general), a good book, text messages, a good action movie, and kids’ cartoons, baseball, a nice cup of coffee, and a good laugh.
